Bacon first tasted success with his role in the frat-house comedy Animal House, but it was his starring roles in Diner and Footloose that established him as a household name. After a spate of dodgy late 80s flicks such as She’s Having A Baby and The Big Picture, Bacon resurrected his career with the popular monster move Tremors and the critically acclaimed medical drama Flatliners.
However, by the early 90s, Bacon’s career as a Hollywood leading man was effectively over. Not to be deterred, he reinvented himself as a character actor, appearing in box office smashes such as JFK, A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, and Sleepers. More recently, he has appeared in the latest X-Men movie, as well as the hit romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Bacon once boasted that he had worked with every actor in Hollywood, and while this may not be strictly true, he certainly has worked with his fair share of megastars over the years. In fact, his varied movie career has inspired a popular trivia game known as Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon, which is based on the idea that any movie star could be linked to him in just a few steps.
