Biography
Down to earth Yorkshire lass Kim was born in Bradford, the younger sister of Emmerdale actress Sally Walsh. She tried to follow her sister into soaps auditioning to play Maria Sutherland in Corrie in 2000, but she missed out to Samia Smith.
Kim trained in the performing art at Bradford’s Stage 84 theatre school, landing a part in the West End production of Les Miserables before auditioning for the second series of Pop Stars: The Rivals in 2002. She was teamed up according to a public vote with Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola and Sarah to form the best girlband since the Spice Girls, Girls Aloud.
With the band, she’s notched up a whopping 20 consecutive top ten singles, four number-one singles, two number-one albums, and five BRIT Award nominations. Following their dizzying success, the band announced they’d take a break in 2009 to pursue solo interests.
Since then Kim’s been caught smoking a doober in 2005, sung on an Aggro Santos track, presented comedy music show Suck My Pop in 2010, modelled for New Look and PUMA, and starred in 3D family movie Horrid Henry: The Movie in 2011. She’s currently looking forward to getting together with the Girls for a 2012 reunion tour.
