Biography:
Olympic torch dropper Konnie grew up in Ealing and was a bright young thing, excelling at maths and science. She went on to study at Cambridge, earning herself an Economics degree. While studying, she made appearances on CBBC and GMTV, famously interviewing Labour leader Neil Kinnock for Newsround at age 17.
Her big TV break came in December 1997 when she was selected to be a presenter of the neverending kids show Blue Peter. On quitting the programme more than a decade later in 2008, she was the third longest-serving Blue Peter presenter of all time and its longest-serving female presenter.
From there Konnie hit the skids a little, popping up on the occasional digital channel presenting programmes about zoos and the like, before scoring her next big TV gig, hosting the 2010 series of The Xtra Factor on ITV2. Replacing Holly Willoughby, she only lasted for a year after a series of blunders and gaffs, and Simon Cowell reportedly turfed her out.
In July 2010, Konnie married the hilariously potty-mouthed telly-basher Charlie Brooker at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
