Biography:
Queen bee of the Gossip Girls, Leighton was born in Texas while her mum was serving a ten-year drug sentence in prison. Brought up by her grandparents, she moved to New York at age 11 with her mum, attended the Professional Children's School and started modelling.
Moving to LA at 14, Leighton began landing TV roles right away, starring in TV hits like Entourage, Law & Order, CSI: Miami and House. But her big break came when she was cast as the lead in the major hit superbitchfest that is Gossip Girl. Leighton’s been playing Manhattan socialite Blair Waldorf since 2007 but is due to leave the show in 2012.
Leighton’s had a couple of stabs at the charts with some so-so slinky synthpop, but nothing major, and she’s also branched out into movies. Starring and singing in the country drama Country Strong in 2010, she’s also played a psychopath in The Roommate, and she’s starring in the forthcoming Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You Dad.
In a story straight of out Gossip Girl, Leighton and her mum sued each other in July 2011 with Leighton claiming her mum misspent money meant for her brother’s medical treatment on plastic surgery for herself.
Leighton dated her Gossip Girl co-star Sebastian Stan for almost 3 years, moved on to date actor Justin Long in early 2011, but was recently been spotted getting up close and personal with her Country Strong co-star Garett Hedlund at the 2011 Golden Globes.
