Biography
Mark-Paul Gosselaar was born in California on 1 March 1974 to Dutch-American parents. He and his three siblings were born in Panorama City but grew up in their teens in the Santa Clarita Valley in southern California. He began acting while he was in high school, but it wasn’t until he reached the age of 19 that he started to take acting seriously as a career option.
His big role was as the blue-eyed, blonde-haired, floppy-fringed charmer in the 90s teen TV sensation Saved By The Bell. The high school comedy ran from 1989 to 1993 and spawned two movies and two sub-standard spin-offs – Saved By The Bell: The College Years and Saved By The Bell: The New Class.
Since his teen heartthrob days, Mark-Paul has continued to work in TV, with his movie career never really getting off the ground. Courtroom dramas and gritty cop shows seem to be his thing. Over the years you might have spied him during his four-year stint in NYPD Blue, in Commander In Chief, Franklin & Bash, as the star of Raising the Bar or in his sexy-sexy performance in cult US TV show Weeds.
Mark-Paul was married to Lisa Ann Russell for 14 years until they split in June 2010. They have two children together, and are currently battling it out for custody of them in an LA courtroom.
