Biography:
Michael McIntyre is one of Britain’s best loved stand-up comedians and now a judge on our fave programme, Britain’s Got Talent.
Michael realised pretty early on that he could make people laugh, he loved the feeling and decided he wanted to make a living out of comedy. After dropping out of uni with dreams of becoming a script writer, Michael initially worked as a runner on various TV shows before dabbling with a stand up career.
Michael’s big break came at The Royal Variety Show in 2006. Following his hilarious performance his equally amazing stand up DVD, Live and Laughing became the fastest selling comedy DVD of all time, only to be overtaken by his next DVD, Hello Wembley, in 2009.
It was also in 2009 Michael finally won Best Male Comedian at The Comedy Awards after missing out the year before. Michael’s live tour that year sold out and included an incredible six nights at Wembley, four at the O2.
Like any good comedian, Michael has appeared on all the panel shows from 8 Out Of 10 Cats, to Have I Got News For You? Michael also hosted his own BAFTA nominated comedy show, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.
Michael has performed at the Royal Variety Show three times in 2006, 2008 and 2010. Performances that probably helped secured his place as a judge on the show, Britain’s Got Talent alongside Amanda Holden and David Hasslehoff in 2011.
Michael is happily married to his childhood sweetheart Kitty and the couple have two little boys called Oscar and Lucas.
Michael is planning another tour of the UK and Ireland in 2012. In the meantime if you want to read more about Michael, then luckily for you he has penned an autobiography, Life and Laughing which was a bestseller. Not bad for the man who, self-confessedly, looks like a Chinese man when he laughs.
