Biography
Michelle was born in Stockport and was brought up by her mum and stepdad. She went straight from a Catholic high school in Salford to study at the Manchester School of Acting. She made ends meet working as a check-in girl at Manchester Airport and as a sales assistant in Selfridges in Manchester while she tried her luck at an acting career.
Her first ever audition was for a part in Hollyoaks but was she was turned down. Then came her big Coronation Street break when she won the role of Tina McIntyre in 2007. Corrie’s male viewing figures soared and dads, brothers and husbands everywhere suddenly felt the need to tune in three times a week - we can’t begin to think why.
Although she claims she was a real ugly duckling growing up, there’s no sign of those grey feathers these days as Michelle is one of TV’s leading soap foxes. She won Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards in 2009 and 2010 and Best Newcomer in 2008.
She now frequently pouts out from the covers of lads' mags like FHM. But anybody looking to snap up Michelle is out of luck: after dating Hollyoaks star Anthony Quinlan and male model Brad Howard, she’s now engaged to The Wanted boyband hunk Max George.
