British TV actress and Eastenders star Nicola Stapleton was born in South London into a working class family. Her folks sent her to the Corona Theatre School and later to the famed Sylvia Young Theatre School where she studied alongside many other young Eastenders stars of the future.
Nicola made her first TV appearance at the age of 11 in the classic crime drama Dempsey and Makepeace. Eastender beckoned and she played the part of wayward teen Mandy Salter for two years from 1992 to 1994. Her character was a firm favourite amongst Eastenders fans and she’s set to return to the series in August 2011.
Following Eastenders, Nicola went on to star in just about every other hit British TV series you’d care to mention. Between 1995 and 2008 she starred in The Bill, Harry Enfield and Chums, Casualty, The Thin Blue Line, Emmerdale and most famously Bad Girls, amongst others. She’s also had critical success in theatre roles, including Of Mice and Men at the National Theatre and several plays at The Royal Court Theatre in the London west end.
