Biography:
Born in Honolulu, the Hawaiian beauty is best known as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, but the Dolls weren’t Nicole’s first taste of musical fame. Prior to the Dolls, she was a backing singer in the 90’s for the rock band Days of the New, and also sang in girl group Eden Crush who were put together on the reality TV show Popstars.
Nicole’s parent split when she was just 6, and she moved with her mum from Hawaii to Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the Youth Performing Arts School there and performed with the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Proof that she took her performing arts career seriously? She studied acting and musical theatre at university where she landed roles in Chicago and Show Boat.
Nicole auditioned for US reality show Popstars in 2001 and won a place in girl group Eden Crush who had a number 1 hit with Get Over You. When the group split, she joined former burlesque troupe Pussycat Dolls as they made the transition from burlesque gang to pop group. They were a massive success globally with chart-topping hits like Don’t Cha. After two PCD albums, she went solo in 2010.
She’s been a regular guest judge on X Factor UK and has been signed up to replace poor Cheryl Cole on American X Factor in 2011. She’s currently dating hunky multimillionaire racing driver Lewis Hamilton.
