Biography
Guyliner-sporting pop punker Pete was born in Illinois and was a serious soccer player until deciding that music was his future. A tearaway teen, his parents sent him to a boot camp and it was here that he first began to write songs. When he returned, he started learning piano and decided to go straight edge, meaning no drink, no drugs, no sex.
Pete went on to study for a degree in political science, but dropped out just short of graduating to concentrate in his music career. He formed Chicago hardcore punkers Fall Out Boy in 2001, with the band going on to scoop 3 MTV awards and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Releasing 5 studio albums before their hiatus in 2009, their album Infinity on High topped the US charts in 2007 and they scored 3 UK top ten singles, including their biggest hit, This Ain’t A Scene It’s An Arms Race.
Pete has since been a busy boy. He’s formed the female-fronted band Black Cards, set up Decaydance Records, which signed Panic! at the Disco and Gym Class Heroes, founded the clothing company Clandestine Industries in 2005, now owns a bar and a film production company, and he published a book, The Boy With the Thorn In His Side, in 2005.
After a year of dating, Pete famously married singer Ashlee Simpson in May 2008. In November 2008, Simpson gave birth to their son, Bronx Mowgli, and sadly the couple split in February 2011.
