Biography
Born Alecia Moore, our favourite pop star-with-attitude was born in Pennsylvania on 8 September 1979. Her dad was a keen guitar player and singer and Pink picked up the music bug at an early age. She formed her first band in high school and was signed to her first record contract at age 16 with an all-female R&B group, Choice.
After starting her career as a relatively straight pop star with pink hair and tunes with an R&B flava, from around 2001 she sought more creative control from her record company and hooked up with 4 Non Blondes frontwoman Linda Perry. Her music took on a more rocking edge and she had hits all over the globe with numbers like Get The Party Started and Just Like A Pill.
Boosting her rock-chick image further, in 2003 she teamed up with Tim Armstrong of punk band Rancid and released her Try This album, with the single Trouble earning her her second Grammy award.
Pink has been with motocross racer Carey Hart since they met in 2001. You can spot him in the videos for Just A Pill and So What. It’s been a bit on-again-off-again, but the couple married in Costa Rica in 2006 and Pink gave birth to their first child, Willow Sage, in June 2011.
