Biography
Oscar winning actress Rachel was born in London. Her mum is a psychotherapist from Austria and her dad is a Hungarian inventor. Rachel studied English at Cambridge, where she helped to set up the award-winning Cambridge Talking Tongues theatre group.
Rachel’s striking good looks led to a modelling career that began at the age of 14, but acting was what Rachel really wanted to do. Turning down a place at drama school to look for work, landing roles in TV shows like Inspector Morse until her big break in 1996. Rachel landed a role in the movie Chain Reaction alongside Keanu ‘hubba hubba’ Reeves and then went on to gain international fame starring in The Mummy blockbuster movie series.
She’s since starred in big-budget Hollywood productions like Enemy at the Gates, Constantine, About A Boy, and won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in The Constant Gardener. Rachel has also tread the boards in the West End with performances in Suddenly Last Summer, giving an Olivier Award-winning performance in A Streetcar Named Desire in 2009.
Rachel was engaged to filmmaker Darren Aronofsky in 2005 and the two had a son, Henry Chance, in 2006 before splitting in 2010. She began dating Daniel ‘007’ Craig in 2010 and the couple wed in a secret ceremony in June 2011 with just four guests at the wedding.
