Biography

Born in Cardiff, footballing legend Ryan Giggs was David Beckham before David Beckham was David Beckham. Starting out as part of Manchester United’s dream squad of the '90s, he is now the most decorated player in English footballing history. Ryan has had his fair share of tabloid exposure too, making headlines on the front pages more than the back pages recently.

His unique talent was spotted early by Manchester City and he was signed up to their School of Excellence at age 12. He made his Manchester United debut in 1990 on his 17th birthday, and the rest, as they say, is history. He made a name for himself on the pitch alongside the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Michael Owen.

One of the original super-footballers, he was super-fit, super-rich, and dated some of the decade's hottest arm candy, including Davinia Taylor and Dani Behr. His talent on the field coupled with the talent he was spotted with off the field ensured Giggs became instant tabloid fodder. Uncomfortable in the limelight, Ryan has shunned press attention ever since his early days at the club, quietly marrying his long-term partner Stacey Cooke in 2007.

Aside from his personal life, Ryan has had an astounding, and record-breaking, footballing career. He was the first Manchester United player to score 100 goals in a season, he’s made over 600 league appearances and he holds the longest run of successive scoring seasons in UEFA Champions League history to boot.
