Biography:
Lovable goofball actress Sandra spent a lot of her childhood on touring Germany with her mum as her mum’s a German opera singer. Sandra studied ballet and singing and got a feel for performing through small parts in her mum's shows.
Dropping out of her final year at university to pursue acting, she moved to Manhattan in 1986, working as a barmaid and coat check girl. She took acting lessons with Sanford Meisner, the same coach who trained Grace Kelly, Gregory Peck, and Diane Keaton.
Sandra began landing small film roles from 1990 before landing her breakout role in 1994. Cast opposite the drop dead gorgeous Keanu Reeves in the smash hit action flick Speed, she became an overnight star and sex symbol. She went on to become a noted comedy actress and a firm rom-com favourite with hits like While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality and Two Weeks Notice opposite Hugh Grant.
From 2004, Sandra began looking for more serious roles, winning acclaim for her part in Crash and in 2009 won the Best Actress Oscar, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in The Blind Side, her highest-grossing film to date.
Sandra now runs her own production company, a restaurant in Texas and a bakery. She dated actors Matthew McConaughey and toyboy Ryan Gosling before marrying Monster Garage host Jesse James in 2005. They split in 2010 after he cheated like a slimeball and she adopted a son, Louis Bardo in April 2010.
