Scarlett Ingrid Johansson Quotes
I have an obsessive character. I manicure my nails at three in the morning because nobody else can do it the right way. Maybe that`s the secret to my success.
Biography:
One time queen of the indie screen Scarlett Johansson grew up in NYC. Her grandfather was a screenwriter/director and with her mum being a total film buff it was only a matter time before Scarlett became obsessed with movies herself.
She began acting from a young age, landing her first film role at age nine in North. Her performances as a child actress garnered serious praise from critics, with her melancholy look and trademark husky voice contrasting starkly with the usual squeaky clean Hollywood kids.
Scarlett went on to star in some classic cult flicks, earning her serious indie street cred, including the Coen Brother’s The Man Who Wasn’t There, tongue-in-cheek arachnohorror Eight Legged Freaks, and Ghost World.
Her biggest break came in 2003 when she was cast in Sophia Coppola’s second feature film, Lost in Translation. Scarlett was nominated for several awards for her performance and won a Best Actress BAFTA too.
Scarlett has become one of Hollywood’s top leading ladies, becoming a firm Woody Allen favourite along the way. More recently she has moved onto big budget Hollywood blockbusters like Iron Man 2 and The Island. To balance this out and remind people of her indie street cred, Scarlett will occasionally do something like release an album of Tom Waits covers featuring David Bowie, or perform with the Jesus and Mary Chain at Coachella.
She married Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds in a super hush-hush ceremony in May 2008, but the two parted ways in December 2010.
