Biography:
Born in Manchester on 30 March 1979, buff boyband Blue member Simon formed the band in 2001 with Lee Ryan, Antony Costa and Duncan James. They went on to have 11 top ten singles, collaborated with Elton John, and sold over 14 million records worldwide. The band split in 2005 and Simon went on to pursue a solo career.
Of all the Blue lads’ attempts at solo fame, Simon has been the most successful by far. He’s the only member of the band to have notched up more than one top ten single. His debut album Sanctuary was released in 2004, reaching number 7 on the chart, and his most successful singles to date have been Lay Your Hands and No Worries, both reaching number 4 in the UK singles chart.
He branched out into movies in 2004, starring alongside Jennifer Love-Hewitt in The Truth About Love, and later starred with Billy Crystal in British gangster flick Rollin’ With The Nines. He took part in I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! in 2008 before reuniting with his former bandmates when Blue reunited in 2009, later going on to represent the UK in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.
