Biography
Perma-grinning TV queen Tess was born into a working class family in Stockport. Scouted outside a McDonalds in Manchester at 17, she began working as a model, travelling all over the globe. After sending in a tape to Channel 4, she made her first TV appearance in 2000 hosting The Big Breakfast’s Find Me a Model competition.
Tess went on to front Singled Out and LA Pool Party alongside noughties superbabes Lisa Snowden and Jayne Middlemiss before becoming the face of ITV’s music show SM:TV Live and their BRIT Awards coverage.
Her biggest presenting job to date has been alongside light entertainment legend Bruce Forsyth hosting the hugely successful Strictly Come Dancing since 2004. Seen as a safe, smiley presenter who’s never going to offend, Tess is the go-to girl for family shows, including Children in Need and big outside broadcasts like the Royal Variety Performance.
Alongside presenting, Tess’ modelling past and enviable bod have seen her become the face and body of La Senza lingerie. She’s also launched her own range of beauty products, published a book about motherhood and is about to publish her first novel.
In 2003, Tess married model, DJ and TV presenter Vernon Kay, becoming the king and queen of light entertainment. There was a slight wobble when he was caught in a dishy sex text embarrassment with a page three model, but the couple worked it out and are still together. They now have two daughters, Phoebe and Amber.
