Biography
McFly star Tom started out as a budding musical theatre star, training at the famous Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. At age 10 he starred as Oliver in the hit musical at the London Palladium.
Before joining McFly, Tom successfully auditioned for Busted, but 24 hours later the record label decided to cut them down to a three-piece, so Tom was out. Impressed with his talents, the label offered him a place on the Busted songwriting team instead.
Tom met future McFly bandmate Danny Jones at a boyband audition, and the two decided to form their own band. After moving into a London hotel together for 2 months to write songs, they placed an ad in the NME and recruited drummer Harry Judd and bassist Dougie Poynter in 2003.
McFly got their big break in 2004 touring with the now hugely successful Busted, and have gone on to sell more than 8 million records. With Tom co-writing all the band’s songs, they’ve notched up two number-one albums, seven number-one singles, and won Best Pop Act at the BRITs in 2005.
In April 2011, Tom became engaged to his long-term girlfriend and Sylvia Young Theatre School classmate Giovanna Falcone after dating for seven years.
