Britney rushed to hospital;
The drama in Britney Spears’ life continues. The troubled singer was rushed to the hospital last night after a stand-off with LA cops. Police were called to her house after she refused to hand over her kids Sean Preston and Jayden James to K-Fed’s bodyguard. The showdown lasted four hours and K-Fed himself even turned up as did Britney’s old legal representatives. Reports suggest that Britney was under the influence of an unknown substance while this was going on. She was eventually taken to the Cedars Medical Center in LA for psychiatric evaluation and her two sons were returned safely to K-Fed, who has since visited her at the hospital. heatworld will bring you more on this breaking story as it unfolds.

Gareth Gates is getting married!   
If it had been this time five years ago, heatworld and about five million other ladies would have been weeping into our hankerchiefs right now. But as it is, we're actually very pleased to hear that Gareth Gates is getting married to his long-term girlfriend, dancer Suzanne Mole. Gaz, who's appearing on Dancing On Ice later this month, popped the question on New Year's Eve and says: "After a great Christmas, I proposed and she said, 'Yes'." We should ruddy hope so. Wonder if Jordan will be invited along to the big day?

Mel B has a drunken tumble
Here at heatworld, we're still feeling hungover from our New year's Eve celebrations three days on. So we can totally empathise with Mel B, who had a drunken fall on New Year's Eve at the Spice Girls party in Claridges and has twisted her ankle. Geri revealed to the audience at the Spice Girls gig on Wednesday night at London's O2 Arena: "Mel B got so drunk she fell down a flight of stairs and twisted her ankle, so she won't be busting the moves tonight." And onlookers say that it was obvious Mel was taking it easy on the dance routines. Don't worry, Mel love – we've all been there. Detoxing in January, anyone?

Leon’s not as good as Leona
Uh-oh, the Leon backlash continues this morning. After being criticised for cancelling gigs over Christmas and asking for too much money for a club appearance yesterday, he’s also failing to match up to previous X Factor winners in terms of sales. The Scottish singer may have bagged the Christmas No.1 with When You Believe and held onto the top spot for the following week, but he’s still sold roughly half as much as Shayne Ward and Leona Lewis – who won the show in 2005 and 2006 – had after two weeks at the top. Oh dear, is his dream over before it really began?
