Winehouse wins Worst Dressed;
Oh dear, despite plans to launch a fashion range, Amy Winehouse picked up the Worst Dressed title at the NME Awards last night. Obviously her dragged-through-a-hedge chic and tatty ballet pumps look didn’t impress NME readers, but it seems that not everyone agrees as she is apparently being paid a cool £500K by Louis Vuitton to do a one-off gig at Paris Fashion Week. It’s not all bad for her then…
Here’s a list of some of the other winners at last night’s awards in London:
Best British Band: Arctic Monkeys
Best International Band: The Killers
Best New Band: The Enemy
Best Solo Artist: Kate Nash
Best Album: Klaxons Myths Of The Near Future
Best Track: Arctic Monkeys Fluorescent Adolescent
Hero Of The Year: Pete Doherty
Villain Of The Year: George Bush
Worst Dressed: Amy Winehouse
Worst Album: Britney Spears Blackout
Worst Band: The Hoosiers
Sexiest Man: Noel Fielding
Sexiest Woman: Kylie Minogue
Godlike Genius: Manic Street Preachers
Alexa chunders on Arctic boyfriend
We bet Alexa Chung is feeling a bit rough this morning – after she puked all over her Arctic Monkeys fella Alex Turner at the NME Awards last night. Alexa was previously seen snogging the face of her chap on the dancefloor, but what followed was every girl’s worst nightmare – chundering all over your man and his nice new trainers. A stunned, but gentlemanly Alex led her to the toilets and sorted her out though, bless him. “After filming her show for T4 all day, it appears she had developed a severe bout of food poisoning,” said a source. “Alex was her knight in shining armour though.” Hmm, food poisoning, eh? Nothing to do with free booze then? *Strokes chin*
Read Boy George’s excuse for chaining up guy
Boy George admitted yesterday that he DID chain up a man in his flat – but claims he has a “lawful excuse”. The former Culture Club singer invited 28 year-old Auden Carlsen back to his apartment last April on the premise of taking some photographs of him but, when they arrived, Carlsen claims George and another man grabbed his arms and chained him to a wall. The young man made his escape by wrenching a hook out of the wall, and was forced to flee in his pants. Boy George denies assaulting and unlawfully imprisoning Carlsen. The trial will take place in November.
Kids' TV star quits after girlfriend’s death
Mark Speight, the TV presenter whose girlfriend was found dead in the bath at their flat, has quit his job on the children’s BBC show Smart. Speight, who was arrested at the time of his girlfriend Natasha’s death in January, but later released, says that his “tragic loss” has left him unable to continue working. The star is still facing charges of supplying drugs, and will return to court next month.
It's the news!
