Amy quits smoking
You might need to sit down for this one... Amy Winehouse had decided to do something sensible! We know, we can hardly believe it either. The troubled star, who has recently come out of hospital after being treated for emphysema, has come to the decision to try to quit smoking. Doctors have warned Amy that her continuing chuffing habit could worsen her already-serious lung condition, and it appears that their words have had an effect. The star has reportedly picked up some boxes of nicotine patches and is doing her best to beat the cravings. A friend of Amy's confirmed, "She's covered herself in nicotine patches as she's desperate to preserve her voice and is promising to clean up her act." Is this a new Amy emerging from the dark? We REALLY bloody hope so!
Shock EastEnders death!
Today is a sad day for all dedicated soap fans. BBC bosses have decided that Wellard’s day has come, and they are planning to kill-off EastEnders’ friendly mutt. The fluffy Alsation, who is actually a lady doggy called Kyte, has apparently grown too old for acting. Awwww. Wellard first appeared in EastEnders back in 1994, when he was found roaming the Square by Robbie Fowler (played by the amazing Dean Gaffney) who later adopted him. Since then the pooch has been played by three different dogs from the same family. A source said, “It’s time for the character to bow out gracefully.” Sigh... It’s like the end of an era.
Kerry close to bankruptcy
Kerry Katona won a reprieve yesterday – and was given ten weeks to pay her tax bill. Kerry still owes £157,000 of an outstanding £417,000 tax bill, but has been given some breathing space by a High Court bankruptcy registrar. Luke Harris, representing her, said that the former Atomic Kitten is expecting £219,000 for work already done. Kerry now has until the 7 August to pay the amount off.
More Madonna and Guy split rumours
Madonna and Guy Ritchie took a three-day break amid rumours that their marriage is on its way to the divorce courts – but stayed in separate rooms! The couple left the kids with the nanny and flew to the romantic city of Milan in Italy, but once they were there Guy spent most of his days working on a new advert with George Clooney while Madge visited fashion designers to arrange costumes for her forthcoming tour. And while their marriage is under the spotlight, the pair did nothing to quell rumours, a source revealing, "They had completely separate rooms, schedules, everything. It is all very well organised, but it's not a marriage the way most people understand it. They have this attitude like we're not really a couple, but we're friends and we love each other and raise our kids. But the truth is they piss each other off, don't agree on anything, don't see each other or live 'together' as they did."
It's the news!
