Cheryl and Dannii are overly nice to once another...
Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue continued with the charm offensive yesterday at the launch of The X Factor 2008, in a bid to convince us all that they’re actually the best of friends. When asked whether she’s dressing more glamorously to upstage her rival judge, Cheryl commented “I happen to think that women in their 30s are at their most attractive.” She quickly went on to add, “She’s probably got more wisdom and more life experience than me.” Hmm, on the surface it seems like a perfectly charming statement to make, but heatworld can’t help observing that every time Cheryl is asked about Dannii, she works in a comment about her being older (Cheryl is 11 years younger than Dannii, at 25). While we’re going down this road, we’ve also observed that Dannii makes subtle digs at Cheryl, which on the surface seem perfectly tame. Commenting on Cheryl’s weight earlier this week, Dannii said, "I'll try and feed her up." She went on make another rather odd statement about Cheryl’s appearance, saying "Cheryl's tiny. Mind you, I met Ashley and he's not tall." Do you believe what Cheryl and Dannii say about one another, or do you think there’s something more bubbling beneath the surface?
Madge prepares to turn 50
We still can't quite believe it – Madonna is going to turn 50 tomorrow! Preparations have started in earnest for a huge party at the star's country home tomorrow night – and one of the rumours is that the Queen of Pop has banned anyone from talking about her real age, preferring instead to keep up the pretence that she's actually 36. Um, we know you're looking great for you age, Madge, but 36?! That's a little bit too ambitious, isn't it? Lots of celebrity guests are expected to be heading out to the country for the party, and we're sure her BFFs such as Gywneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney will put in an appearance. Let's just hope they come up with better presents than Justin Timberlake did – the sexy star has apparently treated Her Madgesty to some golf vouchers. Yes, you read that right, golf vouchers. On the plus side, Madonna's daughter Lourdes has reportedly got all creative and designed her mum a dress for the big night. We really wish we could gatecrash!
Graham to replace Terry for Eurovision
Graham Norton is allegedly about to step into Terry Wogan's shoes – as the new face of the Eurovision Song Contest. Following Terry's admission that he'd had enough of the show, BBC chiefs have been keen to find a replacement – and it seems Graham is their number-one choice. TV bosses are also promising that the new era will be bigger than ever, and an X-Factor-style twist is rumoured. Terry Wogan hosted the show to find the UK's act for over 30 years, but following this year's "political voting" he decided to throw in the towel. "I was considering giving up before Belgrade," the 70-year-old telly legend said at the time. "Now I have to say I'm very doubtful about ever wanting to do Eurovision again." A TV insider said, "The BBC need an alternative and Graham is their man. He is currently talking to bosses about the Song For Europe show which will run early next year." Although we're a bit sad that Terry is throwing it all in after so many years, we do think Graham will bring a lot of sarcastic humour to proceedings. What do you think? Does Graham get your vote as the new Eurovision host?
Everyone wants a piece of Patsy
After her emotional appearance on BBC1’s Who Do You Think You Are?, Patsy Kensit is set to reveal all in her autiobiography. The actress traced her family tree on the BBC1 documentary, and her family history – which included her father James’ links to East End gangsters The Krays – attracted seven million viewers. Now publishers are in-fighting to land a deal. A friend said, “There’s a bidding war and she stands to make over £1million once serialistion rights are sold.” The actress herself said, “I’m 40 now and I think it’s a good time to start writing it. I’ve done a few things in my life that might be of interest.” Hmm, wonder what she’ll have to say about Liam Gallagher?
