Britney to go on trial:
Just when we thought Britney was on the up, a small matter of a court case has interrupted her comeback. The singer will go on trial next month for driving without a valid license, despite her lawyers hoping the case would be dismissed. The trial date is set for 15 October at Los Angeles Superior Court, where it will be heard that Britney did not have a valid California driver's license when she bumped into another car while driving her Merc in August last year. The incident, all caught on camera, saw the singer failing to leave a note. The owner of the other car filed a police report and Britney was charged with misdemeanour hit-and-run and driving without a valid license. Eventually the charges were dropped after Britney paid the other driver an undisclosed sum. Nevertheless, her lawyer Michael Flanagan argues Spears was driving with a Louisiana license that was valid because she owns homes in that state. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Flanagan was planning to file a petition to ask the Superior Court to accept his proof Britney's license was valid with a view to the case being dismissed and for Britney to pay a minimal $10 fee. We reckon this is the last thing the singer needs – we've got our fingers crossed for you, Brit.

Pop Idol host says Simon's botox has gone too far
It's usually Dannii Minogue who's the brunt of all the "frozen face" jibes, but it would appear she's not the only X Factor judge with a penchant for getting rid of wrinkles. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has had a cheeky pop at the music mogul, accusing him of being a big fan of the Botox. Asked if Simon would keep being angry on the hit US show, Ryan quipped, "You won't know because of all the shots!" Talking to US chat-show host Ellen DeGeneres, Ryan laughed, "The angry face is the same as the happy face." It's not the first time the American Idol host has poked fun at his colleague, but Simon doesn't seem to take it to heart, and the pair's on-screen bickering is what makes the show so entertaining. Simon has admitted to going under the needle before, saying, "To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It simply works. You do it once a year – who cares?" Well, at least he admits it. Even fellow X Factor judge Louis Walsh has hinted that he may try Botox in the future, so that would only leave Cheryl Cole as the wrinkly one of the team. But, er, hang on, she's too bloody pretty to have any wrinkles or need for Botox, isn't she? Lucky thing.

Cheryl Cole is a lucky, lucky lady
Looks like Ashley Cole has competition – from two VERY hunky men eyeing up his missus! Cheryl, who this week strutted her stuff on the catwalk for London's Fashion Relief show, not only got the biggest cheer of the night, but was also collared by Cameron Diaz's man Paul Sculfor (hot) and supermodel David Gandy (er, very hot). A source said, "At one stage, Paul and David – who are used to women falling at their feet – were literally talking at her, with Cheryl stuck in the middle not knowing where to look. They were shouting over one another trying to get the last word in and had to be hauled apart by a minder." The source reveals that it was only when one of her flunkies arrived that she managed to get away from the squabbling duo. But Cheryl, who is back wearing a new wedding ring, appears only to have eyes for her man, saying, "I'm the happiest I've ever been, I really am."

Brad donates £50,000 to gay marriage charity
heatworld has a sneaky suspicion that Brad Pitt is keen to tie the knot. A few months back, he and Angelina Jolie famously said that they would not get hitched until same-sex marriages were legalised throughout the US – and now he's putting his money where his mouth is. The actor has donated £50,000 to a campaign fighting a proposed ban on gay marriages. Gay unions were legalised in California earlier this summer, but now there are plans to ban them again in November. Brad said, "Because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality." Go Brad! We so hope it does all get legalised in the US – imagine how amazing a Jolie-Pitt wedding would be?! Shiloh in a little bridesmaid dress...Sigh.
