More on Madge and Guy
Madge and Guy: it's all down to a horse!
As predicted, the mud slinging between Madge and Guy has begun in earnest, with "friends" of the couple only too happy to come forward and give us their views on the break-up. A new source has claimed this morning that the breakdown of Madonna and Guy's marriage can actually be traced back to a single event three years ago. Back in 2005, Madonna took a nasty tumble from a horse on her 47th birthday, breaking eight bones in the process (ouch!). At the time she put on a brave face, but later revealed that it was one of the "most painful experiences" of her life. Now friends are also claiming that it was Guy's apparent lack of support after the accident that convinced the Queen of Pop he was the wrong man for her. The film director remained calm throughout the ordeal and told reporters that he wasn't worried about his wife because she was "strong". However, the source claims that what Madge really wanted was for Guy to drop everything and be at her bedside to comfort her. The source explains, "Madonna was in a huge amount of pain and expected Guy to drop everything. But Guy approached the whole thing in what she now calls a 'very British way'." She then told pals, "He can't possibly be my soulmate." This incident sparked a number of rows, and friends now believe it is the reason for the eventual collapse of the marriage. Madonna and Guy themselves are saying nothing, of course and while Madonna continues with her tour, Guy has been spotted out and about on the set of his new Sherlock Holmes movie. We wonder if we'll ever find out the real truth...?
Chris Moyles "gutted" over bad figures
Outspoken DJ Chris Moyles admitted to his listeners yesterday that he was "gutted", after discovering that 190,000 people had abandoned his Breakfast Show. The new figures show the second fall in a year for Chris, who, back in April was pulling in 7.72 million listeners – and now has just over 7 million. Chris admitted, "We're totally gutted the figures are down. It's really disappointing." We personally think 7 million is a pretty hefty number, but anyway... Chris, although clearly popular, has not managed to steal the breakfast crown from Terry Wogan over on Radio 2, who still rakes in a whopping 7.74 million listeners. Chris went on to say, "I gotta be honest, I think the show's sounding great. I know there's a lot of people who love what we do, so my view is give them what they want and hopefully when new people tune in they'll like it and stay." What do you think of Chris' show? And who do you like to listen to in the morning?
Countdown announce new presenter
Stop sending in your CVs, because Channel 4 have found a new presenter for Countdown – Alexander Armstrong! Yes, the name might not sound that familiar, but you'll know who we mean – he's the bloke off the Pimm's advert! The comedian and actor was given his contract yesterday and has verbally accepted the job. Alexander is expected to sign the paperwork over the weekend and a celebratory meal is organised for next week. A source close to Alexander said, "Alex was delighted to be offered the job and can't wait to get started. He is a big fan of the show and wants to make his mark on it. The hope is he'll bring in a whole new audience to the much-loved show." His appointment as host of the show comes after much speculation as to who would fill the spot after Des O'Connor quit the show, just months ago. But producers are still on the lookout for a maths genius to step into Carol Vorderman's shoes... Anyone?
Strictly's Lisa "breaks down"
According to Strictly insiders, Lisa Snowden has been in tears all week – and even broke down in front of the other Strictly contestants during a group rehearsal. Lisa has been under pressure, with early starts for her radio breakfast show along with dance rehearsals with her partner Brendan Cole. A source said, "Lisa is getting up at about 4am every day to do her Capital Radio breakfast show. Then she's spending hours training with Brendan, who's a harsh task master. It's all got too much for her – she started crying while the cameras were filming the group dance rehearsals this week. She had to leave the studio and get away from the cameras." Apparently, Lisa is concerned she won't get the hang of the dance in time for Saturday night's performance – which is the American Smooth. We don't want to sound nasty, but honestly – boo hoo, Lisa! It's a hard life being a celeb, isn't it?
