Kerry Katona backlash continues:
Following on from yesterday's shocking appearance by Kerry Katona on This Morning, angry and concerned viewers have been ringing and writing in in their hundreds to complain about what they witnessed. Kerry, who appeared to slur her words and seemed disorientated while being interviewed by Phil and Fern, has now found herself amid the centre of a huge storm of controversy, with some people even demanding her kids been taken away from her. Kerry told heatworld yesterday that she was definitely not drunk during her appearance, and claimed angrily that the This Morning team had "stitched her up" to come across badly. The star is alleged to have had a huge screaming row backstage after her interview yesterday, telling staff at the TV studio that she'd never do the show again. However, Kerry's publicist and close friend Max Clifford has been quick to voice his concerns, saying, "I need to sit down and talk to her. I am increasingly concerned for her health." Another friend of Kerry's also said yesterday, "She's breaking all the rules at the moment and not listening to anyone around her." Yikes. How are you feeling about the incident now? Do you think we're all overreacting, or are you still in shock about it all?
X Factor's Ruth victim of phone blunder
We clearly weren't the only ones more than a little surprised to see Ruth go into the bottom two on Saturday night's X Factor, and now it has emerged that there might be more to the story than a few unimpressed viewers. It turns out that the number displayed on screen to vote for Ruth was actually a digit short, meaning that people who tried to vote for her were getting only a busy tone. Ruth's furious mum Eva said, "We tried for an hour and a quarter, but the lines were busy all the time. We suddenly realised the number shown on TV was wrong." Ruth, who was initially one of the favourites to win the show, was clearly devastated to be in the bottom two, and narrowly avoided being booted off for good after her performance failed to please Simon Cowell. However, the team over at The X Factor last night played down the incident, saying, "The incorrect number was on screen for less than three seconds. The error would not have changed the outcome of the vote." Do you think Ruth deserved to be in the bottom two, and who do you think will be given the boot this weekend?
Matt Lucas becomes first celebrity gay divorcee
It’s not really an accolade Matt Lucas will be displaying on his sideboard among the countless Baftas and other assorted TV-related awards, but the Little Britain star has become the first celebrity gay divorcee in the UK. Matt’s divorce from his husband Kevin McGee after less than two years of marriage was granted yesterday by the High Court, with Kevin’s “unreasonable behaviour” cited as the reason for the split. Matt and Kevin married in December 2006, and shared a home in London’s Regent’s Park.
Billie to remain in hospital
New mum Billie Piper will spend up to another week in hospital after giving birth to baby Winston on Tuesday, according to her hubby Laurence Fox. Billie had the 6lb 11 ounces baby boy by emergency caesarean section at the posh private Portland Hospital in London, but the operation means she won’t be home with her new baby until next week at the earliest. Laurence says, “The caesarean was quite a major thing. She might not be ready to go home for five days to a week.”
