Stars have their say on Russ and Ross debacle:
Here at heatworld, we're still a little bit shocked by the whole Russell Brand resignation. Although what he and Jonathan Ross did was undoubtedly not their finest hour, we never thought this would be the outcome. Russell admitted yesterday. "I didn't think the repercussions would reach the proportion that they have. In fact, I obviously didn't think at all. I was being a bit silly and I got caught up in the moment. I only do that radio show to make people laugh and make people happy. Obviously it's gone beyond the point where I do that and I'm making people unhappy and angry and sad. So I'd like not to do that radio show anymore." Despite his resignation, Russell remained upbeat, telling reporters that now he'd have more time to pursue his film career in America. At last night's National TV Awards, details of which you'll find below, quite a few stars took the chance to have their say on what's happened. X Factor judge Louis Walsh certainly didn't hold back, "He had it coming," he said, "It was rude, crude and he'd been getting away with it for too long." Chat-show host Paul O'Grady also seemed to delight in his rival Jonathan's Ross' disgrace, telling onlookers, "Jonathan Ross can stick this award where the sun don't shine." Not everyone was being quite as harsh, though. Davina McCall joked that she's like to get Russell, Jonathan, Andrew and his granddaughter Georgina into the Big Brother House together, before saying about the pair, "They are enormously talented. They should get a smack on the wrist and move on." We think we agree with her, but with 27,000 complaints at the last count, can they really get away with just a slapped wrist?

Kerry undergoing tests to prove she’s not an alcoholic
Sick of being branded an alcoholic after her shambolic This Morning interview last week, Kerry Katona is hoping to show the world her slurring and gurning while being quizzed by Phil and Fern was purely down to her bipolar medication – and NOT due to excessive consumption of booze. Kez is currently undergoing medical tests to prove she’s not an alcoholic – and will make public the outcome of the examinations. She says, “I am going to publish the results. I’m going to Harley Street to have a test to show that I’m not an alcoholic. It’s just not right. I’m being attacked for an illness. My slurring is down to the pills.” We’re sure A LOT of people will be very interested to see the test results… including those who masterminded her magazine deal – we’ve heard rumours she could face the sack.

James Corden and Mat Horne set for the Brits

Yay! Best news we’ve heard for a while – James Corden and Mat Horne have been lined up to present next year’s Brit Awards. While The Osbourne clan made an "interesting" attempt hosting last year’s ceremony, (adopts best Welsh accent a la Vanessa) we’re not gonna lie to you, 2009’s awards look set to be really rather ace with the Gavin And Stacey stars on board. And at last, it’s a duo which won’t give anyone an excuse to wheel out pre-show comparisons with the legendarily bad Sam Fox/Mick Fleetwood combo of yesteryear (yawn). Roll on 18 February. And the G&S Christmas special, of course.

Simon Cowell picks up a lifetime achievement award at NTAs

heatworld is feeling a little sensitive around the head area this morning, and that's because we were at the National TV Awards last night (we know, we'd be jealous of us too). The red-carpet hosted an impressive line-up of stars, including all the X Factor judges, most of the cast of EastEnders, Ant and Dec, Nicollette Sheridan, Zachary Quinto (Heroes' Sylar) and of course, Paris Hilton, who heatworld now suspects is an actual comedy genius. Seriously, the woman is like a caricature of a celebrity, all sashaying hips and cute little waves – brilliant. Anyway, enough of us, and onto who actually picked up the gongs. David Tennant won the award for Outstanding Drama Performance, and spoke to the audience live from the theatre where's he's currently starring in Hamlet. While confirming that he will be back to record a new series of Doctor Who specials, he did also break the news that he won't return as the Doctor for another full series. Boooo! Other big winners o the night included Strictly Come Dancing for Most Popular Entertainment Show, which beat off stiff competition from The X Factor, and EastEnders, which scooped the award for Most Popular Serial Drama. Simon Cowell was awarded a Special Recognition Award by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and delighted in telling the crowd that being famous is "the best job in the world". We love his honesty. For all the gossip from the awards including exclusive pictures and interviews with all the stars, make sure you pick up next week's glittering issue of heat.
