Ross and Russ nominated for comedy awards:
They may both still have their tails firmly between ther legs, but that hasn't stopped Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross being nominated for a British Comedy Award. The ITV bash, which takes place on 6 December, was supposed to be hosted by Jonathan Ross, but he quit in the wake of the Manuelgate, saying he thought it would be "inappropriate" of him to take part. Jonathan's Friday-night chat show has been nominated for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme, while Russell Brand is in the running for Best Live Stand-up. The nominations, which are made by a selection of writers and TV execs were actually made after the whole phone-call scandal took place. Despite both being up for a gong, neither Russell or Jonathan are expected to turn up on the night. However, there are rumours that ITV are desperate to tempt Jonathan back to the hosting job, as their attempts to land an alternative comedian is proving tough. An ITV source said, "Everyone knows they would only be standing in for Rossy. Julain Clary and Stephen Fry have rejected it, Alan Carr is in a golden handcuffs deal with Channel 4. And Jimmy Carr is a friend of Wossy. The best option seems to be trying to persuade Jonathan to reconsider." Do you think Wossy should host the awards, or are you all still cross with him for that silly phone call?
Over 50,000 viewers sign petition for Laura
We can't believe that this is still going on, yawn. But now Ofcom, the broadcasting watchdog are involved in the whole Laura White debacle – and last night launched an investigation as angry viewers threatened to boycott the show. X Factor bosses are now under mounting pressure to publish voting figures, after 50,000 petition-signers complained about Laura being booted off the show. The petition was presented to Ofcom, with one of the organisers saying, "People just want to know what happens when they vote and we have a right to know the figures. How do we know Laura was even in the bottom two? How many votes did she get? We don't know. They need to come clean. The voters pay the bosses' wages – they have a right to know." Crikey! We can't believe this is still going on. Are you on the side of the petitioners, or do you think it's simply time we moved on?
X Factor's Diana determined to sing
There's been speculation all week as to whether X Factor hopeful Diana Vickers will recover in time to perform on this Saturday's show – and now heatworld has been told that the 17-year-old is determined to make it happen. Poor Diana, who is still suffering greatly with laryngitis, has been attending rehearsals and says she will sing through the pain rather than miss another show. The X Factor's creative director Brian Friedman explained, "I was with Diana in rehearsals yesterday. Her throat still hurts, she couldn't talk at full volume, she was having trouble swallowing – but she still wants to perform. Diana is going to go on stage no matter what this week." Diana has found herself the subject of criticism this week following Laura's controversial departure, so we're not surprised she's determined to perform. We just hope she manages to pull it off.
Blur to get back together? Please say yes!
Are Blur about to reunite? We only ask as Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon were pictured together at the London Premiere of Damon's spectacular popera, Monkey: Journey To The West on Wednesday night. The duo are infamously frosty with one another, but appeared to have left whatever issues they had in the past. And Damon has revealed that he is keen to perform huge, high-profile gigs again, saying, "I went over to Kanye West at the 02 this week and it was good. I'll probably do it again at some point," before adding, "I can tell you genuinely, I'm getting on really well with Graham at the moment, so it's distinctly possible." The pair's difficult relationship has perhaps been the real reason why the band haven't got together again sooner, but Damon hinted that all was back on track last week when he said, "Graham and I have been hanging out together a bit. We had lunch the other day. It's very possible I'll go back to Blur...It's fantastic to get my old friend back."
