Cheryl's X-Factor fury:
The X Factor took a dramatic turn on Saturday night when Laura White was sensationally booted off the show – and her mentor Cheryl Cole wasn't happy. According to reports, she had a furious bust-up with Louis Walsh backstage, and said his decision was "clearly personal". A source said, "Cheryl was incandescent with rage and let her feelings be known. She was absolutely furious and was giving Louis what for. No one has ever seen her so angry, but she is really passionate about her acts.” Laura, who lost the sing-off against Ruth Lorenzo, was one of the favourites to win, but she lost out when judge Louis had the casting vote and waved her good bye. The tension between the two judges was clear throughout the show and heated up when Cheryl urged JLS not to become like Westlife – a band that Louis manages. Louis snapped back, "Westlife had more hits than you," adding, "Little Miss showbiz here thinks she knows it all." Oo. Er! But yesterday Laura was resolute, saying, "Cheryl was really angry last night. She doesn’t know whether it was a personal thing from Louis or what. I think she’s just really upset because she feels I was one of the strongest singers and she feels robbed.... Louis made his decision for whatever reason, so I’ve just got to deal with that.”
Kerry: "Yes, I am an alcoholic"
Kerry Katona seems determined to give heatworld a headache. We've lost count of the number of times we've bashed our heads against the desk in frustration – and now she's done it again. The mum-of-four has admitted this weekend that she is, in actual fact, an alcoholic, and that she's known about it for the past four years. Kerry was asked recently if she had a drinking problem following her bizarre appearance on This Morning, but denied there was an issue, instead blaming her slurred speech and erratic behaviour on her bipolar medication. However, Kerry has now come clean, saying, "Four years ago I was diagnosed as an alcoholic after a stay in The Priory clinic. I've never admitted it before." The young mum then went on to confess, "This is an ongoing battle I will face for the rest of my life. I can get through days without a drink, but it's hard." Despite this revelation, Kerry still maintains that she had not been drinking prior to her interview with Phil and Fern. Talking about her battle with alcoholism, Kerry went on to admit, "I never promise myself or my family I can beat this addiction, but I'll try bloody hard." Well, we can't say our jaws are dangling in shock, but perhaps the fact that Kerry has finally admitted publicly that she does have a problem is the first step towards her recovery.
Russell Brand speaks out
Thought you'd heard the last about Manuelgate? Well, Russell Brand has now spoken out about the incident, and claims that the final broadcast version was, in actual fact, edited and toned down. He also alleges that Andrew Sachs did give permission for the content to be used, as long as some of the more personal quips were taken out. Russ said, "The thing was, we were told Andrew Sachs okayed it." Bits that were taken out included a joke about performing a sex act on the Fawlty Towers actor. Russell went on to say that the experience would not make him tone down his controversial style, explaining, "I can't inhibit what is spontaneous and good about my performance. In a way, it doesn't change anything. Andrew Sachs has accepted my apology. I can't let it change what I do as a performer. It was daft, not malicious." Meanwhile, Jonathan Ross emerged from his home to film a charity episode of The Apprentice and managed to make a joke of the situation, saying that he thinks he's heading for a shopping channel. Looking back at it all now it does seem rather silly, don't you think?
Amy protects her fortune
Amy Winehouse has called in her lawyers in a bid to stop her husband Blake Fielder-Civil getting his hands on her £10million fortune. Amy's dad Mitch met with the legal team last week, with a source revealing that the talks were "constructive", saying, "There was panic in her team that Blake could get access to Amy's money. That cannot be allowed to happen. Mitch is leading the way but Amy is fully aware of what is happening."
