Dermy apologies to Louis for ‘camp’ comment
Crikey, we're used to bitching going on between the X Factor judges, but we never thought Dermot would get involved. Yesterday we brought you the news that Louis was furious with the X Factor host after he made a series of on-air jokes, ribbing the Irish pop manager for being camp – and now an embarrassed Dermot has promised to keep his mouth shut. A show insider said, "Dermot was really shocked by how badly Louis reacted. He never meant to be insulting." Dermot repeatedly teased Louis on Saturday's show, joking that he fancied the semi-naked male dancers, but the 56-year-old did not see the funny side and cornered Dermot after the show to tell him off. The insider went on to explain, "Dermot has now apologised and promised he won't do it any more – and Louis accepted it. They both just want to move on now." Perhaps Louis thought that it was bad enough getting constantly wound up by Simon and couldn't face teasing from Dermot as well? We think the light-hearted banter is a big part of the show, so we hope Dermot doesn't become too cautious.

Iceland order Kerry drink test
With all the hoo-haa over Russ, Ross and Manuelgate, we'd almost forgotten about Kerry Katona's disastrous appearance on This Morning a couple of weeks ago – but it would appear that Iceland didn't. The frozen food giant was rumoured to be reconsidering their deal with Kerry in the wake of her controversial interview, but instead decided to set their own minds at rest. Kerry's, ahem, delightful husband Mark Croft has now revealed it was Iceland that organised the tests for alcoholism last week, saying, "Iceland sorted everything out for us. They said: 'We're concerned about Kerry, and want to make sure everything is fine'." The star did eventually have tests at a Harley Street clinic. It is still unclear, however, if Iceland will continue to stand by their poster girl. One source revealed, "Iceland have been shocked by the scale of fall-out but are sticking by her [Kerry] for now – especially since she is appearing in a current series of ads. Mark continues to stick up for his wife's erratic behaviour and deny that there's anything wrong, saying, "The public love her." Hmm, shame the same can't be said about him...

Russell Brand for Pirates Of The Caribbean?
After hot-footing it to the US following Manuelgate, it looks like Russell Brand is taking the whole hoo-ha in his stride – as he’s rumoured to be in talks to appear in the forthcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 as Captain Jack Sparrow’s brother. The comedian would play Johnny Depp’s character’s brother in a deal worth a whopping £5million. Disney bosses are keen to sign up Russell for his, er, pirate sensibilities. A source says, “There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles from Russell’s either.” How ace would that be?!
 
Arlene’s got the knives out for Seargent
Uh-oh… Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips is on the warpath (a well choreographed one, presumably). She isn’t too amused veteran broadcaster John Seargant is still in the competition – and is fuming a man who “can’t dance” could win the contest. John defeated GMTV’s Andrew Castle in the dance-off on Sunday, but managed to scrape through with a record low of only 20 points out of a possible 40. She says, “It’s all very well that people fall in love with a man, but what his feet are doing isn’t a foxtrot. One’s always hoping that the people at the bottom of the leaderboard will be in the bottom two. We’re judging on the ability to dance. People are just having fun with John.”
