Rachel’s "gun" causes new X Factor controversy
Uh-oh. X Factor hopeful Rachel Hylton is by no means a stranger to controversy, and now she’s gone and upset show viewers by making a "gun salute" live on air. Rachel made the pistol gesture after triumphing over Daniel Evans in the sing-off – and some people weren’t too pleased. Despite the incident taking place on Saturday’s show, outraged viewers took several days to complain to TV regulating body Ofcom. An X Factor spokesperson said, “Rachel in no way meant any offence by her hand gestures on Saturday night.”
Take That dedicate song to Amy
They might be a world away from Amy Winehouse's crack-addled life of sucking on ice pops and wandering round Camden at 4am, but bizarrely, Take That have written a song all about the troubled singer that will appear on their new album, Circus (only 11 days to go! *lets out bit of wee*). The song, How Did It Come To This, sung by Jason, talks about "a girl in Camden town" who's living her life in the spotlight. It goes on to describe her as "slightly schizophrenic" and "slightly OCD". Sorry, we can't think who you might be talking about, boys. We wonder what Amy will make of it all?
Sergeantgate outrage continues…
The outrage over Sergeantgate continues! After pulling out of the competition yesterday (or bowing to Arlene’s negative comments, whichever version you believe), everyone’s queuing up to air their fury at John’s departure, including, er, what reads like a who’s who of British politics. Conservative leader David Cameron admitted he was “just devastated. Strictly will not the same” while Peter Mandelson described John as “the people’s John Travolta”. And even Strictly host Brucie was upset by recent events, saying, “I’m sorry for John. He must have felt so guilty.” But it seems even John was surprised by his success in the competition, as he was due to appear as an after-dinner speaker on a Caribbean cruise lasting a few months, due to leave next week – something which wouldn’t have fitted in with his Strictly schedule. But bring on Saturday’s show – in which he’ll dance to Murder On The Dancefloor and pretend to shoot the judges. Er, probably best not tell Rachel…
New GMTV host annouced!
Ooh, we love a bit of GMTV drama, and the latest news is sure to put a certain someone's nose out of joint – namely Kate Garraway's. Yes, producers have finally announced the new presenter to fill Fionas Phillips' boots - and, er, it's not Kate! The new lady in question is relative unknown Emma Crosby, who at 31 is a full decade younger that Kate, who's 41. Emma comes from Sky News, and, in the great tradition of GMTV presenters, has highlights and looks just like the rest of them. Emma said yesterday, "I am very excited to be joining Britain's leading breakfast programme and working alongside Kate Garraway, who is a great talent." Well, at least she mentioned Garrawench – we'd love to know what Kate makes of the new recuit....
