Rossy makes on-air apology for Manuelgate
We were all wondering just how Jonathan Ross would handle talking about his suspension once he returned to work at the BBC. Would he joke about it? Would he say sorry? Well, in actual fact it was a bit of both. Settling down in his seat to record his chat show Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, the comedian turned to his audience and quipped, "So, where were we?" Then, after making a joke about something foolish former President Bush had once said on air, Rossy took the opportunity to make a formal apology, saying, "I'm going to take this opportunity to apologise for what I said on the radio. In future I intend to be more aware. But, as the kids say, it was my bad, so I do apologise for any hurt or distress it has caused." Later during the recording, one of the cameras rolled over a picture of Russell Brand up in the Green Room and Jonathan quickly yelled jokingly, "Get it off! Not him!" As well as chatting away animatedly to Tom Cruise, Jonathan also interviewed Stephen Fry, who told his old friend he was "happy to help him off the naughty step". Are you excited about having Rossy back on your screen, and did he do the right thing by apologising?
The Bill cast left fearing for their jobs
It's raining outside and there's nothing but doom and gloom everywhere we look and listen. But, spare a thought for the cast of The Bill who fear a drastic cull, after bosses plan to push the show to 9pm and slash the amount of episodes a week. The station reckons that by changing slots it will free up more 8pm slots to screen cheaper entertainment which can attract bigger ad revenues. Last year 96 episodes were shown, but that is expected to almost halve in order to cut costs. A source revealed, "This has sent shockwaves through the cast. No one is sure about their future and everyone will be worried until their contract is sorted out. It’s impossible for everyone to stay on, so there will be some tears at the end of this consultation process.” But, putting a more positive spin on things, Peter Fincham, ITV’s Director of Television said, “I’m delighted to announce The Bill’s transition to a weekly 9pm drama on ITV1. It’s a fantastic opportunity to take the series to another level.” Are you a fan of The Bill?
Ben Fogle completes race despite illness
Just a few months ago we were left shocked when we saw photos of poor Ben Fogle looking frail and worn during his treatment for a rare and nasty flesh-eating virus. The sweet Animal Park presenter had picked up the bug while filming abroad and on his return to the UK he was forced to undergo a vigorous course of treatment to get rid of it. The star was said to be devastated, especially because he feared he would not be well enough to take part in a race to the South Pole. Well, we're not sure how he did it, but Ben did manage to get well enough for the race, and he completed it just yesterday. The gruelling 481-mile race took Ben and his teammates James Cracknell and Ed Coats 17 days and 11 hours to complete, but unfortunately for them, they didn't manage to win. Still, if we'd been as ill as Ben we probably wouldn't even be running up the stairs yet, let alone trekking across a frozen wasteland. We think Ben and co should feel very proud, and we're so glad he's on the mend again.
Patrick Swayze to write memoirs
Patrick Swayze is going to write a book with his wife Lisa. The actor, who is very sick with pancreatic cancer, is thought to be penning a memoir, focusing on his life's journey and will also incorporate the difficult time he is currently going through. Patrick's most famous in our eyes for his role in the epic Dirty Dancing *no-one puts Baby in the corner* will hopefully lift the lid on the film too. Just imagine what went on behind the scenes... We can't wait!
