Wendy Richard tributes continue
Tributes have continued to pour in for EastEnders star Wendy Richard, who died yesterday after a long battle with cancer, aged 65. Her EastEnders co-stars have spoken out of their upset over the legendary TV personality’s death, including her former on-screen son Todd Carty, who branded Wendy, “[A] fantastic lady and a real friend.” Barbara Windsor paid tribute to a, “Great pal and such a tough lady,” while Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale, admitted, “Her death has left us all numb.” Poignantly, Jade Goody also commented on Wendy’s death, saying, “I met Wendy in hospital and she was brilliant to me. She told me to keep fighting and make the most of my life. She was a lovely lady.”
Jack to get his tag removed
Jack Tweed looks set to have his electronic tag removed so that he can spend more time with Jade Goody. Jack had pleaded with the authorities to let him have the tag removed again – he was allowed to spend his wedding night with Jade (despite his 7pm curfew at his mum’s house) – so that he and Jade could spend her final days together, but security services had so far refused to make an exception. But now, senior Ministry of Defence sources have revealed his curfew will be suspended as Jade’s condition worsens. A source says, “When we have medical evidence this is imminent, the tag will be removed – but only for a very limited period.”
Whitney warns Rihanna: Don't forgive Chris
Last night, the first pictures of Rihanna since her alleged assault at the hands of Chris Brown emerged – and she does not look happy. The pictures show Rihanna in her bikini on a beautiful beach in Mexico, but her expression is pure unhappiness. The bruising and swelling, which were clearly visible in the photo leaked last week, seem to have almost vanished, but clearly the attack has had lasting damage on poor Rihanna. Yesterday fellow singer Whitney Houston spoke out to offer her support to the star, having experienced a similarly destructive relationship with her ex husband Bobby Brown. Whitney warned, "Don't make the same mistakes I did. Whenever you let your heart rule your head, you are bound to run into trouble." A friend of the diva goes on to say, "When Whitney heard what had happened to Rihanna, she was close to tears. Right then she knew she had to contact her and urge her to get out of the relationship while she can. She made it clear that Rihanna should dump Chris." It has also emerged that Rihanna has not yet pressed any charges on her wayward ex, and that he is claiming he will argue "self defence" in any charges are made. Self defence?! OK then...
J-Lo sues pram company
Jennifer Lopez was far from amused when she became an actual pramface – and is suing the company responsible for using her image without permission. Posh British pram manufacturers Silver Cross used pictures of J-Lo and her twins, Max and Emme, in adverts for their prams. Jen and hubby Marc Anthony have now begun legal proceedings against Silver Cross, thought to be for a whopping £3.5million; the pair want to recoup all the money Silver Cross has made from using their image to sell prams. Oo-er. Um, we wouldn’t mess with J-Lo, would you?
