Katie and Alex throw "send-off" party
Katie Price is reportedly throwing a massive party for boyfriend Alex Reid tonight, not just to celebrate New Year but also as a send-off before he enters the Celebrity Big Brother house on Sunday night. Alex has been rumoured to be taking part in the show for weeks, but obviously nothing has been officially confirmed. According to sources close to the couple, the pair are "very much together" and he will be joining Katie for a fancy-dress party at her home tonight. The couple were spotted at fancy-dress store Angels in London yesterday picking out costumes for the event. Funny, we thought Alex Reid already had a huge collection of pretty dresses... In other Celeb BB news, Vinnie Jones has reportedly now secured over £600K to go into the house, and his main task will be keeping an eye on troubled former footballer Paul Gascoigne. Britney thanks dad for saving her life
Britney Spears has publicly thanked dad Jamie for helping her repair her life. The starlet hit rock bottom and dad Jamie was put in charge of her life and finances in a bid to help her recover. Now, despite the many rumours that Britney felt trapped by him, she has now admitted he saved her. "My dad has helped me a lot," she says. "I'm learning to take better care of myself and not get stressed or down about things for nothing. I want to show people I am a strong woman." Brit also said she's feeling "much happier" and that her future is looking positive. Good for her! And Happy New Year, Britney.

Jim Carrey started his comedy career in a very strange way...by throwing himself down the stairs! The actor, who's best known for his roles in films such as The Mask, Ace Ventura and Liar Liar, says he always took on the role of entertainer at Christmas, and that he became popular in his family. "All our relatives would storm the house because it was the Jim Carrey show," he says. " I'd throw myself down stairways and do all kinds of characters." That sounds a bit painful, Jim. Tyra Banks branded a "diva" by former employees
Tyra Banks is not the best lady to work for, if the latest rumours are to be believed. The America's Got Talent judge recently announced that her chat show was ending, and now former employees have come forward to claim it's because she's "difficult" to work with. "She really is a diva," says one disgruntled worker. "She and the higher-ups on the production staff could be extremely brutal." Ooer! However, another pal of the former model's says simply that Tyra's "diva-ness" is the reason she sells so well. The things these celebs get away with, eh?
