Stephen Gately died from heart failure:
Boyzone singer Stephen Gately died from heart failure, an autopsy report confirmed today. It is thought the 33-year-old had an undiagnosed heart condition, and it was this that caused him to collapse after a night out in Majorca on 10 October. The condition, known as atheromatosis, causes the arteries to thicken. Tragically, it's also thought that the late star's partner Andy was most likely asleep next to Stephen for several hours after he died. Bioth Andy and the student they invited back to their apartment that night agree Stephen was "very drunk", but scientists have ruled out either alcohol or drugs as a contributing factor in the star's death. It was simply due to his heart condition. We still can't believe lovely Stephen has gone.
Cocktail of drugs found at Brittany Murphy's home
Brittany's Murphy kept a cocktail of prescription drugs at her home, it has been revealed. Pills and medicines found at the LA property include several strong painkillers and tablets to battle depression, OCD and anxiety. The drugs were in the name of Brittany, her husband Simon and her mother Sharon, as well as a few unknown people. Last night the star's devastated husband claimed Brittany suffered from mitral valve prolapse, a heart murmur that can cause dizziness. However, it is not a condition that requires treatment by drugs. Simon has said Brittany only took painkillers for her "female time", and he's still baffled as to why his wife is dead. "This is what's killing all of us," he says. "How did it happen? We all want to know why we lost our baby." He also denied rumours that he'd tried to block the autopsy, saying the thought of it upset him initially but that he understood it must be done. "I look forward to getting the results," he added.
Joe on track to beat Cheryl in the charts
Cheryl Cole is going to be beaten to Number One by her own X Factor act, if the current sales figures are anything to go by. Chezza's new single 3 Words is struggling to make a huge impact on the charts, whereas Joe McElderry's The Climb is continuing to storm up towards the top of the charts. Joe's single is finally selling more copies than Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name, which looks set to be Number Two this weekend. Interestingly, Journey hit Don't Stop Believin' - made popular again by Joe McElderry performing it on The X Factor - is also racing up the charts and is predicted to get a higher slot than Cheryl. Have you bought any of these singles?
Sophie Anderton arrested at Waterloo station
Sophie Anderton was thrown in a cell this week after throwing a huge tantrum at London's Waterloo station. The former model and self-confessed ex-cocaine addict arrived amid the travel chaos caused by the weather and started shouting her mouth off. Police had no choice but to arrest her for being drunk and disorderly, and she was locked in a cell to sober up. "She made a nuisance of herself," explained one traveller. "She wouldn't shut up so the police nicked her." The model's (no doubt weary) spokesman said last night, "It was just one of those things." We suppose it was, in the mental life of Sophie Anderton.
