Jack Tweed takes the stand and denies rape
Jack Tweed yesterday told a court he was not a rapist and that he believes the sex he had on the night of the alleged assault was consensual. Jack claims that the 19-year-old student actually asked him to go into the bedroom with her, saying she needed his help to find some socks. “I turned round and she was right behind me,” he said. “We started kissing. She had her arm round me and was running her fingers through my hair.” Jack says the pair then moved to the window sill and he asked her if she was on the pill before they began having sex. He also claims he had no idea pal Anthony Davis was even in the room until later. “Anthony came and knelt on the bed,” said Jack. “I hadn’t seen him. He had his clothes on but his penis was out.” Asked if the girl had ever protested or said “no”, Jack replied that she hadn’t. “It’s obvious what she wanted to do,” he claimed. Both men deny rape. The trial continues.

The dancer who wowed the Britain’s Got Talent judges with his back-to-front routine has made up with his family since appearing on Saturday’s show. Tobias Mead gave up a promising career in football to pursue his passion for dancing - a fact that his father and brothers struggled to come to terms with. However, since becoming famous overnight this weekend, Tobias has been welcomed back with open arms. “My brothers said they were sorry we hadn’t spoken for so long. They apologised for everything.” The dancer’s dad was simply worried that a career in dancing would not provide a steady income, but since seeing how talented Tobias really is he’s changed his mind. Actress Isla Fisher was pictured sporting what looks suspiciously like a little baby bump this weekend, leading to speculation that she is pregnant for the second time. Isla and husband Sacha Baron Cohen are notoriously private people, keeping their wedding a complete secret and not coming clean about Isla’s first pregnancy until the very late stages. Isla had done her best to disguise the bump by wearing a long maxi dress, but a gust of wind came along flattened it against her tummy. We can understand that these two like to keep their news to themselves, so we’ll just settle for whispering tiny, cautionary congratulations in their direction.
Michael Douglas’ son jailed for five years
The son of Hollywood actor Michael Douglas has been jailed for five years, despite a written plea from the star. Cameron Douglas was sentenced yesterday after he admitted trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine. Michael Douglas wrote in his letter to the judge that his son had struggled with having a famous family, saying, “I have some idea of the pressure of finding your own identity with a famous father. I’m not sure I can comprehend it with two generations to deal with.” Experts say that the five-year sentence and $25,000 fine is in fact lenient given the charges, and that Cameron could have been looking at a jail term of a decade or more.
