Lenny Henry and Dawn French split. Sadface.
Comedian couple Dawn French and Lenny Henry have announced they are to split after 25 years of marriage. The couple released a statement yesterday saying they had come to the decision last October and had since been living together in “constant, open and honest discussion”. They admitted they felt “sad”, but that the split was entirely amicable and that they would remain close friends and continue to raise their daughter Billie together. Those close to the couple – who wed in 1984 – say their relationship was never the same after Lenny admitted cheating with a skinny blonde back in 1999. One friend explained, “The romance has gone. It’s fizzled out. Lenny’s fling, albeit many years ago, didn’t exactly help things.” We feel saddened by this news, but at least they are going about it in the right way and staying friends.
Jim Carrey is a single man again, too
Lenny and Dawn aren’t the only famous couple going their separate ways today – funnyman actor Jim Carrey has also split from his girlfriend of five years, Jenny McCarthy. The couple – who heatworld really thought were perfect for each other – rather strangely decided to announce their break-up on Twitter. Jim broke the news, writing: “Jenny and I have just ended our five-year relationship. I’m grateful for the many blessings we’ve shared.” His actress ex then updated her own Twitter, saying she will “keep Jim as a leading man in my heart”. Booo! What is it with all these break-ups today?
Cheryl Cole has started talking to herself
Cheryl Cole has admitted she often talks to herself these days because she hates being on her own. The Girls Aloud star is currently jetting all over the place promoting her solo album and is finding being away from the other four girls hard work. “I hate being on my own,” explains Cheryl. “I fear I’d go brain-dead if I don’t [keep busy], so I just have to keep busy – even if it means I talk to myself.” We imagine there’s a queue of single men happy to keep Cheryl company any time she chooses. We just hope Ashley isn’t one of them. To read more about that situation, make sure you pick up this week’s copy of heat.
Brucie brands The X Factor “embarrassing”
Bruce Forsyth has branded The X Factor “embarrassing” and claims it’s not entertaining. Asked what he thought of Strictly Come Dancing’s big rival, Brucie said, “It’s not my cup of tea. I can’t hear people singing for two hours – that to me is not entertainment.” The Strictly host added that The X Factor could be “embarrassing at times” and described it as a “firework display with someone singing”. This distaste couldn’t be anything to do with the fact X Factor takes the majority share of the audience on a Saturday night, could it, Brucie?
