Russell Brand is Fighting For His Love
We always had Russell Brand down as a lover not a fighter, but it turns out you can be both. The big-haired comedian has taken up martial arts to shape up for his wedding to Hottest Woman In The World Katy Perry – and the muscles are taking shape already. Russell has hired a trainer to teach him the art of Krav Maga, a martial art which features hand-to-hand combat. Given that Russell usually has his happy hands all over the body, we’re quite impressed that he has the discipline to do this. At this rate he’ll be able to slice through the wedding cake with his bare hands. Just be careful you don’t injure anything vital before the Big Day, Russ…
Usher thinks he’s a “worldwide pop icon”
Oh dear. It would seem Kanye West isn’t the only US star attending the Ego School For The Utterly Deluded. Usher has said in a new interview that he’s well on the way to becoming a “pop icon” like Michael Jackson, and that he’s already a “worldwide star”. Usher says confidently, “I've been doing this 18 years now and my icon is well on its way. Michael was doing it for 50 years and that's something I'd like to grow towards. At the same time, I am one of a kind, a worldwide pop icon.” Hmmm. We blame Jay-Z for all this. After all, it was he who said Usher was “one of the guys who's in line to fill those [Jacko’s] huge shoes”. Why does anyone have to be the next anybody?
Jake Gyllenhaal is scared of the birds
Thankfully we’re not talking about the female human race when we say ‘birds’, because that would just be too tragic. Jake is in fact scared of Ostriches, after he encountered them on a film set recently, “They would say, 'Don't make any noise around the ostriches. They'll tear out your eyes and rip out your heart’,” he explained. “So, I was naturally terrified. They look like they're innocent, but they're really not.” They don’t look at all innocent. Those beady eyes, that pointed little beak… We’ve always been terrified of them. Just another reason Jake and us are clearly meant to be…
Gerard Butler gave money to Pimp
Calm down nanny, we don’t mean an actual pimp. As if Gerard Butler would have to pay! What he did do, though, was invest in soon-to-be-released Brit flick Pimp, which was written and directed by his good friend Robert Cavanah. The Scottish-born director, who also takes the lead role in Pimp, has been mates with Mr Butler for years and the two guys have worked together before. Pimp takes a closer look at the seedy underworld of London’s Soho and also stars Danny Dyer and LOTR actor Billy Boyd. For more info on the film, just click here.
