Want to know how to get taken seriously in Hollywood? Well, first of all, you have to make sure no one will ever mistake you for a dumb blonde – or even a dumb redhead. And that’s not us talking, this cunning piece of information comes from certified brainbox Lily Cole.
As we mentioned a few weeks ago, Lily dyed her famous flame-coloured hair black just before starting her third year at Cambridge Uni. At first we assumed she was having a late-onset goth rebellion; come on, it’s happened to us all, that moment when you suddenly realise that maybe emo kids have it right after all, maybe everything is hideous and depressing, and maybe if you dye your hair, hide in your bedroom listening to downbeat rock and take up reading poetry, it’ll all start to make more sense. Most of us experience this when we’re 14, but hey, Lily’s been busy being an international modelling superstar, kay? As it turns out, though, her new look is much more well-considered than that.
According to the Daily Mail, Lils is determined to make a serious go of her acting career after winning favourable reviews for her role in The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus opposite Heath Ledger, and the new hair is all part of her bid to take over Hollywood. She’s already been filming a role in The Moth Diaries as a girl who suspects her roommate is a vampire. We bet the witchy look means she feels right at home with all those bloodsuckers.
