According to Stephen Fry, women don't like sex. If they did, they'd be out cruising for it in the same way that gay men do. At least, that's what he's quoted as saying in an interview for this month's Attitude magazine. Tsk, tsk Stephen... What were you thinking?!
Stephen Fry is claiming, of course, that he's been misquoted, though the evidence suggests it must have been quite a long misquote. According to Attitude, the openly gay 53-year-old actor-cum-presenter said that, "If women liked sex as much as men, there would be straight cruising areas in the way there are gay cruising area. Women would go and hang around in churchyards thinking: 'God, I've got to get my f*****g rocks off, or they'd go to Hampstead Heath and meet strangers to s**g behind a bush. It doesn't happen. Why? Because the only women you can have sex with like that wish to be paid for it."
Cue women's rights groups and ITV1's Loose Women, no doubt, to be out there lining up and gunning for his danglies. As he might say to Alan Davies on QI... you silly boy...
