OMG!! Go dig out your disco shoes and your flares, because ABBA just might be reuniting to perform again together for the first time in almost 30 years!
A decade ago ABBA turned DOWN a $1Billion offer to reunite for a 100-date world tour. Yes, you heard that right - they said no thanks to cool $1Billion... which made it pretty clear to everyone at the time that there was pretty much no chance of them getting together again. Ever.
Until now that is, because the major stumbling block to an ABBA reunion has always been Agnetha Faltskog (the blonde one), who legged it to an island near Stockholm to live incognito(ish) when the band broke up in 1982. The fact that she was once married to fellow ABBA bandmate Bjorn Ulvaeus could probably have had something to do with her refusal to reform, though she always blamed her dislike of fame. Just two years ago, appearing at the opening of Mama Mia! the musical in Stockholm she was to be found running from the theatre after being freaked out by the attention that she was getting...
However, in an interview with a Swedish magazine, she is quoted as saying of a potential reunion that, "I just feel it would be fun to meet, chat about the old days and perform together. We would not get together for a tour like the Rolling Stones and other old bands do. I think we would all consider a one-off reunion, maybe for a good good cause."
So, there you have it. The chances of a one-off ABBA reunion charity gig are on! What we wouldn't give to see that happen. Now we just need the other three to agree too, and a worthwhile cause to be found. A-mazing...
How about you heatworlders? Excited by the prospect of an ABBA reunion?
