Jamie Oliver has been the butt of many a fat-tongued Naked Chef jibe over the years, but since Jamie’s School Dinners – his one-man crusade to turn kids into healthy eaters, his popularity has grown and grown, and grown… almost to the size of Gordon Ramsey’s ego.
And this Christmas, Jules is going to struggle to find her kitchen-dwelling husband something better than the present he’s just received from his adoring public, because it’s now been confirmed that his latest cookbook 30-Minute Meals has sold 735,000 copies in the last two months alone - making it the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time. That’s right, it’s outsold the bible. Which makes Jamie Oliver, somewhat ironically given the time of year, even more successful than Jesus!
Sort of.
But still, even those of you who may actually want to nail him to a cross have to admit that 18 copies being sold every single minute during shop opening hours is an incredible achievement. He’s even outsold the tomes of Stephen Fry and Michael McIntyre (who were expected to top the charts) by over 500,000!
Which begs the question, have you bought yourself a copy of Jamie Oliver’s 30-Minute Meals? No? Then you can probably expect it in your Christmas stocking a week next Saturday!
