Torchwood, the edgy sci-fi Doctor Who spin-off, looks set to be running for at least another seven years, according to lead actor John Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack.
The BBC hit has been picked up by a US company and Torchwood: The New World is set to be a US-UK co-production, with John Barrowman keen to take things on, declaring that: “I have turned down a load of other shows to make Torchwood. We'll be filming it in LA as it's now a collaboration between the BBC and the Starz Network in America. They're planning to make it for the next seven years. So I'll be spending six months a year in Hollywood and six back in the UK.”
Sounds like fantastic news to us! Though, given that Captain Jack is supposedly frozen in time, we’re left wondering how that whole ageing thing might be working out seven years from now…
Oooh, and hands up who’ll be watching Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol tomorrow night (6pm on BBC1)? It’s a great episode, we promise you – featuring Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins, no less. Our very own Boyd Hilton has given it the big thumbs up, for starters – with a five star review and the words, ‘You’d be mad to miss it’. So make sure you don’t!
