The Apprentice: Chris Farrell pleads guilty to fraud...

Chris Farrell, the jug-eared smoothie from The Apprentice, has pleaded guilty to fraud charges in court today!

The 29-year-old former Royal Marine from Merseyside was something of a slow starter on The Apprentice, but knuckled down and managed to survive until week eight - though he did return to make a guest appearance for the final task as part of Stella English's winning team.

He arrived in court today in a suit every bit as sharp as the ones he wore in the boardroom. Only this time he wasn't hoping for a job, he was hoping to avoid prison, and pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him for incidents between 2007 and 2009, when he worked for a firm in Plymouth. He'll be sentenced on January 28th...

What did he do? Well, rather than something as innocuous as fixing the price of sausages, or over-charging tourists for bus trips round the building sites of East London, he had actually been a very naughty boy in his pre-The Apprentice life as a mortgage broker.

Earning £1,600 a month as a basic salary, Chris Farrell would earn commission if he made sales of more than £5,000 per month. So, naughtily, he started to fix the figures and inflate some of the incomes that his clients had to make sure that their mortgages went through - guaranteeing him a sale, and hitting his sales targets in one fell swoop. Ker'ching!

Ooops though... because, he got caught! Just as well then that Lord Alan Sugar didn't hire him. The Apprentice: Behind Bars could have been a good follow-up show, mind...
