David Beckham named top role model for British boys

English footballer, soon to be dad of four (okay, not that soon, but we’re still a little bit excited about the news and enjoy mentioning it whenever possible) and all round good guy, David Beckham has been named the top role model for British boys.

A survey was recently carried out among male children aged between 8 and 14 and the results showed that the majority of youngsters aspire to turn out like Becks!

The list of ten celebrities, compiled by Disney XD, also featured TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson in second place, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo in third, business guru Sir Alan Sugar in fourth and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in fifth.

The US President, Barack Obama and teen sensation Justin Bieber also slipped into the top ten, as did Roger Federer, Simon Cowell and Bill Gates - What a random bunch of celebrities!

    affairs aside (nothings been proved) beckham is generally a good role model. you can't say he hasn't worked hard. thousands of boys each year try to be professional footballers and very few make it. also he uses his profile for charity work and on the whole seems to have a stable and loving family. you also have to think about the way the survey was questioned. i doubt that doctor or solicitor was an option in a disney survey?

    exactly chloejanexx - she WAS in a huge girl group and she has her name attached to things like clothing or perfume but she doesn't sit down and actually design them! XD so, get YOUR facts right, eh? Anyway, you've obviously missed the point of what I was talking about.

    krazykow86 - how does victoria beckham have no discernible job of her own? she was in the biggest girl band ever, and now she's a fashion designer and makes thousands from that :S so get your facts right?

    I totally agree. He is a great role model. Passionate about his career, great dad and husband (despite the loos thing), does loads for charity and English Sports, seems to be down to earth with a great sense of humour - And he's bloody gorgeous!!!! what more could you wish for a role model???

    lol @turkleton I think he makes a good role model. He's worked hard to get where he is and hee's one of the few who actually seem to like to play football instead of just doing for the money (pay attention here Rooney). He MAY have cheated on his wife, but they worked through it and are now happier than ever. No one's perfect, life is about learning from your mistakes. Plus he does a load of charity work. If I had a son who wanted to be like him, I'd be pretty chuffed.

    I think he is an excellent role model. People keep telling him he is too old to play football for England but he has never given up and has remained in great shape. He also does alot for charity.
