Jo Whiley has announced that she will be leaving Radio One after 17 years at the station.
Welsh cutie Huw Stephens, who currently presents two evening shows on Radio One, is set to take the reins over on Jo's old weekend show.
However, Whiley fans fear not! The DJ will be back on the airways before you know it. Jo is moving to Radio 2 in April to present a brand spanking new weeknight show, three evenings a week kicking off in April.
Jo said:
“I’ve loved working at Radio 1 for the past 17 years. As well as supporting my love of music, Radio 1 have also supported and accommodated me bringing three further children into the world, something, as a woman, I will always be grateful for.'
The kiddies in question being Jude, nine, Cassius, seven and two-year-old Coco whose dad is Jo’s hubby, music exec Steve Morton.
Radio 2 controller, Bob Shennan seems pretty chuffed with the decision:
'Jo’s at the top of her game and is a first-rate broadcaster with a great knowledge of music. I’m looking forward to her bringing her own brand of presenting to the Radio 2 evening schedule' he said earlier.
Good Luck with the move Jo, we have a sneaking suspicion you will be fab! However, we can think of one little lady who probably won’t be wishing Ms Whiley luck anytime soon….
