John Travolta’s wife reveals she had ‘silent birth’

John Travolta has made no secret of the fact he's a follower of the controversial Scientology religon, so it comes as no real surprise to hear that when his wife, Kelly Preston recently gave birth to their son she had a ‘silent birth’, which is common practice for any devout Scientologist.

During a recent interview with a US TV show, 48-year-old Kelly revealed:

“It’s just no words as much as possible. If you need to moan, if you cry out or all of that, of course, it’s normal. But just bringing them in as peaceful and gentle a way as possible” – Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

She continued, “L. Ron Hubbard found that the single source of aberration, of psychosomatic illnesses, stress, fears, worry, things like that, have to do with the reactive mind, and in that part of the mind is different words and commands that can come back to affect you later in our life.”

“I’m blessed, my kids have always been amazing, very calm, very peaceful, happy, and I absolutely know that it’s very much because of that.”

Okay, hands up all the pregnant ladies reading this who would like to try a ‘silent birth’ to test Kelly’s theory? Anybody? Anybody? No, didn’t think so.

It must have worked for her this way I guess, if she wanted to cry out really bad then she probably would have done or even did!

If she had loads of drugs to take the pain away then I could understand this. If they don't use any drugs then I'm not being funny but I don't see how it's possible to stay silent, giving birth REALLY HURTS :'( And a woman has the right to make as much noise as she wants, in any situation ;)

What a load of shite. They're not even allowed to talk if something goes wrong, they have to communicate it in a non-verbal way. Maybe they provide a chalkboard?

is it really that nuts? the Scientology bit's weird. But she just didn't do speaking, she was still able to vocalise the pain. It sounds quite nice, I felt a bit like my midwife talking and shouting at me to push was distracting, seems a nicer idea to tune into yourself and let instinct take over? She probably only chose to do it this way because it suited her!
