No one really cares about serious awards do they? The King’s Speech and Black Swan will pick up a load of prizes, everyone will applaud politely and then go home. Yawn. We’re a lot more enthusiastic about the Razzies, where the year’s worst films and performers are given their dues.
This year’s nominations are in and they’re guaranteed to generate a lot of controversy – especially among the fan base of a certain adolescent vampire franchise. The Worst Actor category features Robert Pattinson for his performances in both the most recent Twilight film and cringing weep-fest Remember Me. He’s up against stiff opposition from the likes of Jack Black (Gulliver’s Travels) and Gerard Butler (The Bounty Hunter).
The hotly-contested Worst Picture category meanwhile sees the afore-mentioned Twilight flick go head-to-head against turkeys like The Last Airbender and Sex And The City 2.
Traditionally the Razzie award ceremony takes place a day before the Oscars. Last year’s Worst Actress winner Sandra Bullock actually turned up to accept her trophy for the pathetic romcom All About Steve. Should Robert Pattinson win do you think he’ll make an appearance? Somehow we doubt it.
TRIVIA! Lindsay Lohan is the only actress to ever win the prestigious Worst Actress award twice.
