Yep, we were pretty shocked when we bowled up to our Ruth Lorenzo photoshoot and saw her properly, in all her new, tiny glory.
The X Factor singer has lost two stone since August, but we’re not the only ones she shocked with her new look – her friend and mentor Dannii Minogue didn’t even recognise her and thought she was hitting on her boyf, Kris Smith.
Ruth told us: “I went to the X Factor to see Diana Vickers performing so I went into Dannii’s dressing room and told everyone: “I want to surprise her, so don’t tell her I’ll be waiting in her room.” So I was standing with Ethan, her baby, and chatting to Kris when she walks in, looks at me, then looks at Kris and started talking to him.
“Kris carried on talking to me and Dannii was just standing there like, who are you and why are you speaking to my boyfriend? And I said: “Hola guapa!” and she was like: “Nooo! I didn’t even recognise you!” It was so funny.”
Well, obviously Dannii didn’t think until she cleared up that you weren’t after her man.
As well as undergoing a massive transformation – which you can see exclusive pics in the magazine, out today – Ruth said she’s also been giving her I.Q. a boost too and weirdly has become obsessed with quantum physics and has a uni professor on speed dial. Yes, really.
“I’ve got a tattoo that says The Raspberry Pattern – which is also the name of my band – on my arm,” she says. “It’s all about chaos, and the pattern of chaos that seems to make no sense, but actually it really does make sense.”
Er, right…
She adds: “I’m dyslexic so I’m bad with numbers but good with patterns. I’m working with mathematician, Dr Trockel, in Stamford University about dyslexia and patterns.
“I was eating raspberries and I couldn’t flipping see the pattern so I rang him and he did a study with his colleagues that shows raspberries don’t have a certain pattern. It relates to the “no-pattern pattern” that the universe has. It’s all very complicated.”
There you have it. Ruth Lorenzo, solving the mysteries of the universe while bellowing out mid-tempo rock ballards.
