More than 12 years after Sex and the City revolutionised the way women talk about men’s willies (we used to do it in the toilets of clubs, now we do it in cafes and restaurants, on buses and packed commuter trains), Kim Cattrall has realised that her role on the show intimidates men.
The 54-year-old, who played raunchy sex-obsessive Samantha Jones on the hit TV and film franchise, has said men are often put off of her because of the character’s habits.
Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she admitted she is single but trying to change this: “It’s very difficult.”
Ellen responded: “I would think that it would be difficult, that men would be intimidated.”
“A little bit, yeah” Kim agreed: “Writing a book about the female orgasm didn’t help my dating career either. Men like to think that they know it all, especially in that department.”
And in another interview that’s sure to set all milf-admirers’ heartbeats racing, she described how she prepared for her latest role as a porn star-turned down-and-out stripper.
“What I did do is watch a lot of 70s porn and I watched a lot of documentaries about pornography.”
Ooof. The research for her turn in upcoming film Meet Monica Velour wasn’t all great fun, though. Oh no, it was a sure case of sex-swings and roundabouts.
She told Cinemablend: “What was so frightening about it is that these young girls, I think they come from all over the world to come to Hollywood and they want to be stars, and then suddenly they realize that they don't know how to act.”
Uh oh. Do you think women like Kim should intimidate men? Or should men man up?
