Adele boss blasts "porn music"

Adele boss blasts

Adele’s boss – a very important man called Richard Russell – has slammed the “boring, crass and unoriginal” music being made by other high-profile female pop stars. He even went as far as to accuse mainstream music labels of using “faux-porn” imagery to sell records.

“The whole message with [Adele] is that it’s just music, it’s just really good music,” he said in an interview.  "There is nothing else. There are no gimmicks, no selling of sexuality. I think in the American market, particularly, they have come to the conclusion that is what you have to do."

Russell’s comments could be seen as an attack on music videos such as Rihanna’s controversial promo for S&M, which features all manner of immodest behaviour. Let’s not forget also the 3,000 complaints garnered by Christina Aguilera’s somewhat-explicit X Factor appearance last December.

Adele herself recently commented on the hyper-sexualising of pop stars in an interview. "I can't imagine having guns and whipped cream coming out of my tits,” she said. “Even if I had Rihanna's body, I'd still be making the music I make."
